  • Open a formal consultation process - and give serious effort to finding alternatives for those affected

  • Where more than one person is in a role, ensure a fair selection process based upon your redundancy policy

  • NEVER say "you are redundant" only say that "the role is redundant".

  • YOU MUST give a reasonable consultation period

  • YOU MUST give an explanation of why the role is redundant and why the individual has been selected

  • YOU MUST put each stage of the process into writing in a letter to the employee
