Open a formal consultation process - and give serious effort to finding alternatives for those affected
Where more than one person is in a role, ensure a fair selection process based upon your redundancy policy
NEVER say "you are redundant" only say that "the role is redundant".
YOU MUST give a reasonable consultation period
YOU MUST give an explanation of why the role is redundant and why the individual has been selected
YOU MUST put each stage of the process into writing in a letter to the employee
